Hello Uncle Sam,

Since you were last with us --  and I remember your very challenging question you posed to us several months back -- Peppermint has had an upgrade from 14.04 to 1404.1.  Also, for many of us, the update process is much improved as the occasional bug --derived from Lubuntu -- is discovered and sorted out.

That, Uncle Sam, is the Ubuntu derivative news in a nutshell!  ;)

[T]here are a lot of people happily running Peppermint ICE which hasn't been receiving ANY updates for a while now .. and I personally would STILL consider that MUCH more secure than any version of Windows with up-to-date AV/Anti-malware ;)
