Shoot, I think I messed up my little laptop. Awhile back, my curser started acting like it had a mind of it's own, it was weird, like someone else was controlling it. So I made a new user "evie" and made that the administrator and deleted "eve".  So just now in the terminal this happened:

evie@eve-Inspiron-910 ~ $ sudo fdisk -l
[sudo] password for evie:
evie is not in the sudoers file.  This incident will be reported.

I put in the only password I have now. When this computer was new, it had unbuntu and I used a different password. Is it looking for the original admin?

OK we could fix that but it's not an easy fix to explain (for obvious security reasons) .. you'd need to boot to recovery mode and enter a root shell, remount the / partition as read/write with:
Code: [Select]
mount -o rw,remount /
then add "eve" to "sudo" group with:
Code: [Select]
usermod -a -G sudo eve
(being VERY careful to get that syntax correct)

Everything up to (and including the fir4st command can be found here:
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/resetpassword
but obviously after the "mount -o rw,remount /" command you jsut want to run the second command above .. not change the password (as that link goes on to do)

But it may be easier to just use Windows to create a Peppermint 5 LiveUSB and use that to delete the old version of Peppermint and install Peppermint 5

See "Stage 1" here:

for how to use Universal USB Installer to create a Peppermint 5 LiveUSB in Windows

That's the wisest option IMHO.  It saves all the "gymnastics"  :D

Thanks you guys! I now have peppermint 5 on both laptops.  :) BTW, I did end up using unetbootin. That other thing, pendrivelinux.com downloaded some nasty browser thingy that was a pain to delete. Now my laptops aren't connecting by wi fi, though. I'm here by a wired connection. Can you help me please? I guess I should say solved and start a new topic?
