no HDMI output
« on: October 22, 2014, 08:36:00 pm »
I'm a semi newbie who just wiped Windows 7 off an EEEPC in favor of a much faster Peppermint 5. Everything is great except I can't get the HDMI monitor to show up  in "hardware". It's native to the computer and runs off the Intel components. It worked great on Windows so I know it's not the machine. Can anybody help me?

Hi there, which EEEPC do you have? I am sure someone here can help with a little more info on your system.

EEEPC1025C.  It took me forever to a linux distro that seemed to work on it and then, when I finally did, I wiped pokey Windows 7 off of there. Now I having regrets because at least I could watch videos on my 32" HD monitor. Now I can't even get VLC to play on the vga display. I'm thinking I should have gone with Lubuntu which I tried but can't even get to boot. It's like I'm being held against my will in Peppermint. I'm not feeling the love that's for sure.

See here:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ASUS_Eee_PC_1025c#HDMI

what happens if you run:
Code: [Select]
xrandr --output DVI-0 --auto

or what's the output from:
Code: [Select]
xrandr
(with the HDMI device connected and switched on ?

Nobody's holding you against your will .. you're free to reinstall Windows if you choose ;)

Sadly not all hardware works with Linux.

Hope you manage to get it sorted.
