AMD APU
« on: October 15, 2014, 09:44:18 pm »
I'm a little confused about them. The graphics are built into the processor? I ask because I'm thinking of building a small form factor mini atx tower as a simple entertainment device for the bedroom. Don't need any thing fancy for streaming movies, dual core should be fine. So I'm looking at AMD APU dual, but all boards say no onboard video. Is that because the APU has it?

What APU and motherboard are you looking at ?

If the motherbord says no onboard graphics, but has a VGA/DVI socket .. you can be fairly sure it's going to be using the CPU's onboard graphics ;)

The board actually has an HDMI output only. Which is fine. I've switched everything over to HDMI anyhow.
