Making Grub in dual-boot more beautiful (solved)
« on: September 26, 2014, 01:07:23 pm »
Hi,

I am having a dual boott system (Win/p5). I just wish the splashpage of choosing OS to be a bit more beautiful and simple and if possibly also with a touch screen where I could choose either win or P5...

Is that possible?

You can easily add a background image

place a .TGA image file in

/boot/grub

Then run:
Code: [Select]
sudo update-grubto update the bootloader.

Topic moved .. this is a support question, so is a better fit here than Artwork, Themes and Icons

Is Burg ok to test?
Looks cool but I dont really want to do stuff that might mess up everything...

Personally I haven't tried it for ages, so can't really advise (maybe someone else will know)

One thing is for sure .. those instructions won't work .. there's no version for 14.04/Trusty/Peppermint 5 in that PPA

[EDIT]

There is a version for Trusy in this PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~n-muench/+archive/ubuntu/burg
instructions here:
http://howtoubuntu.org/how-to-make-your-dual-boot-better-with-burg

use at your own risk ;)

I followed the instructions. As well as being a bit brave. It worked fine.
OK the icon for P5 was not there of course. But mixing a bit with different themes and icon images it is kind of fine. It works anyhow. Now I have a boot I like.
