Software Manager.
« on: November 17, 2020, 02:45:23 am »
Have just attempted to open software manager and got a box which says "generating cache" and which after a few seconds then disappears.

Also there's a Software option which when you go in gives a few "recommendations" and headings like Audio and Video but which when clicked on are just are blank "boxes".

Anyone help me out here as I was expecting something similar to what Software Manager used to be?

Just to add one other thing I've just found in system there's a software option which when clicked on says "software catalogue is being loaded". It's been doing this for twenty minutes now but hasn't loaded anything.

Possibly your internet connection is misbehaving?

Have you updated your sources recently?

Try this via the terminal:-
Code: [Select]
sudo apt update
Code: [Select]
sudo apt upgradeAny error messages?

Hi, invisible,

Thank you for responding.

I ran the updates as you suggested and got screen loads of "Stuff" which I don't pretend to understand but the upshot is that you have cracked the problem for which I am most grateful.

I have Peppermint 10 on another desktop PC and the same thing happened when I tried software manager so could it have been a problem with the download file which I used for both machines?

I have used Peppermint since P5 years ago as it is nice and simple for people like me who aren't very
IT literate so this was a bit of a shock.

Thanks again.

Hi, folks,

Sorry to raise this again but have just gone into Software and Software manager and the same problem as before nothing there.

Did as invisible suggested last time which worked OK but this time whilst I Software manager has re-appeared when I try Software I just get "software catalogue is being loaded" but it never completes.

Anyone any idea why it should have "lost" this after it resolved last time and why only Software manager now "works" after updating for a second time?
