(SOLVED) Terminal app recommendation
« on: September 29, 2020, 11:06:27 am »
Hi,
The installed terminal on Peppermint does not have cut and past functionality at least not for me. I have tried.

Is there a terminal app that does ? I installed Roxterm on a previous install of Peppermint but I cant find it in synaptic now.

Thanks,

Hmmm I don't use that default terminal emulator in pep....I think it's called sakura.....

But you could use
Code: [Select]
sudo apt install roxterm

Not sure why you can't find synaptic I know it's in the default build on pep 10. Hmmmm ... anyway hope this helps

I am able to cut and paste easily into Peppermint 10's default terminal... so not sure what your issue may be?

I also use cut and paste while in the terminal, if this is an out of the box problem, you'll probably have to reinstall to fix it and probably some other problems that you haven't experienced yet.
What was I thinking?

You just need to press SHIFT at the same time as CTRL :
copy = CTRL+SHIFT+C.
paste = CTRL+SHIFT+V

I learned something new: copy = CTRL+SHIFT+C & paste = CTRL+SHIFT+V
I've always right-clicked to bring up a menu that has copy and paste.

While in a terminal, just highlighting will copy whatever and allow me to paste where I want by right clicking  and choosing paste. Conversely, I can highlight  something and then go to the terminal and center click my mouse to paste it.  Also, while in the terminal,  highlighting and center clicking does the trick. Makes creating symlinks to my DATA partition real easy when I'm installing a different distribution.
