I have never checked, nor verified, checksums after a regular kernel update... hmmm

Here's my restored PM7 install. Same lappy -  UEFI Secure Boot, et cetera

Thanks for that suggestion @rayzer... powering on the desktop today, the wifi would not connect at all. So I pulled out the extra long cable and rebooted.. then ran thru the uninstall and reinstall process for the driver for my wifi dongle.

Voila!  8)

I didn't see any of this "obsoleted"  narrative when the kernel last updated. I did however have to approve a change in a script permission (that I didn't screenshot)

 :-X

thankfully, @rayzer caught the need to update 8812AU...

Yeah, that was a weird one, for sure!

It's kinda mystifying when the OEM WiFi card on a Dell lappy won't light up.  Oh, well, all's well that ends well.

As an aside, out of boredom, I've decided to restore my former 'Road Warrior.' It's running on top of PM5 (Linux kernel 3.13.0). After updating it, everything (including the WiFi) works fine. Go figure.

Think I'll dual-boot it with PM10, and call it a day...   ;)
