No Internet But Wired Connection OK (SOLVED)
« on: August 11, 2020, 12:44:33 pm »
I asked this question over in the "New Users" forum but had no luck there. I hope someone here can help...

After using a new install on my desktop PC for a couple of days, I suddenly can't access the internet with any browser and I can't do updates, even though the Wired Connection says it's connected. Everything worked fine previously.

I have 2 internal HDs on this machine. When I boot to the other drive that uses Linux Mint I can get online no problem, so something is obviously hosed in Peppermint.

What happens if you delete that connection, reboot and let it create another one?

Thanks for replying. I haven't tried that. Do I do that in terminal?

No, just right-click the connection icon and Edit connections.

I deleted the connection and rebooted. Unfortunately, the new connection is the same.

You could try investigating your DNS settings, adblocker, firewall and so on. Often the easiest solution is just to reinstall.

Try right clicking on the network icon on toolbar.  Make sure that enable wifi is checked on the drop down.  Also, check in network connections.  If your wifi network name shows up in the box highlight it and there is a gear symbol at the bottom.  Click that and make sure automatically connect to this network is checked.  Hope this helps.  Otherwise you might need to re-install as murraymint indicated.

I have similar problems with my Wi-Fi.
All connections OK up and run but no internet, no updates...
So try set manual your Dns in your network. in the gear symbol. I set it 8.8.8.8 (google dns).

Thanks for all the suggestions. Unfortunately, the only thing that worked was a reinstall.
